A pharmaceutical manufacturer

Graded-area control without slowing the gowning flow.

Live occupancy on every graded area

A pharmaceutical manufacturer needed restricted-area control for graded cleanrooms without forcing staff through disruptive turnstiles. The Salvus Network now gives live occupancy for every graded area and a fast, accurate muster, with a timestamped access history for audit.

The full story

The manufacturer runs a GMP campus with a sequence of graded cleanrooms where occupancy and access have to be controlled, but where turnstiles are unworkable: staff move through gowning and de-gowning steps and cannot be funnelled through barriers without disrupting the flow and the cleanroom classification. The site needed zone-level control and an audit trail without adding physical choke points.

The survey concentrated on the thresholds between graded areas and the gowning corridors. Safety Detection Points were installed at those thresholds and every member of staff carried a safety tag, so a read happens naturally as people cross between grades, with nothing to stop and scan. Go-live followed the usual pattern of survey, install, tag issue and a short parallel-running period, with careful attention to keeping the install compatible with the cleanroom environment.

The result is live occupancy for every graded area and a fast, accurate muster that draws on the same reads, without a single extra turnstile. Just as importantly, every crossing produces a timestamped access history, so the site can show who was in which graded area and when, which supports both GMP data-integrity expectations and its emergency arrangements.
